Rebuilding of a
Bakery / Confectionery with Café
Chieming
Oct 2020 – Apr 2021

Chieming is located on lake Chiemsee.., which is also called „the Bavarian sea“. 250 metres from it, there’s the bakery Stumhofer, existing since 1792! After rebuilding the main house, an almost italic flair beams at the customers when they enter the shop. The new counter lies in the shop like a long praline, embedded in elegant green-grey terrazzo surfaces and warm oak wall cladding. Decorated with handmade ornament tiles, it presents most appetizingly the high-quality assortment of homemade pies, cakes and pastries. This gold glowing, baked splendour found itself on the finely designed bread shelf on the back wall and makes the selection a real temptation… bread tastes like this !

The long counter leads directly into the Café-Pavilion, past the gleaming FAEMA-coffee machine. „Buon giorno Bella!“, a classic standing espresso at the bar or rather a sitting cappuccino with croissant ? In the small separees, which arise from the seating and curtains, you can enjoy your stay happily. The patterned fabric was exclusively woven in Italy and the Swedish Curtains are different to its reputation, very charming. The new pavilion ceiling creates a good acoustic in the Café and remembers a richly decorated big cream cake – entirely in the spirit of the confectionery. Behind the door in the bright terracotta wall, a floral wallpaper and colorful tiles are flashing, which makes hand washing a pleasure. In the room centre a chandelier decorates the big family table with a comfortable bench and a look outside. A seat, equipped with round tables is lined up along the facade as well and it looks like a pearl necklace. All of the seats are inspired by the Chiemsee-steamers, on whose decks a similar kind of these seats are placed.
Now, Chieming has a real street café again, to sit and watch. Also, the Bavarian Sea is only a few steps away, „che bello!“ …that sounds like a holiday at home, doesn’t it ?
