Blaue Lagune

Cuisine with zest
Munich
Nov 2021 – Apr 2022

The heart of a house is often the kitchen. Especially when it is located right at the entrance and becomes the landing stage for the whole family: the “blue lagoon”! Just because something is small doesn’t mean the claim has to be small. Quite the opposite: precisely because a lot has to be stored in a small area, it is important to understand and determine the best possible placement and organisation for all daily processes in a kitchen. Once everything is logistically clear, the materials and colours are decided: in this case with Oho! A rich, dark blue for the walls, furniture fronts and sliding door forms a strong contrast to the gold leaf of the back wall and the window niche. The venerable, honey-coloured solid parquet flooring, which was present in the existing building, also joins the colour canon. In order to maintain the balance, the central cooking unit and the dining group are discreetly grey. In this way, a small room is compactly filled with function and colour, but still balanced. For the family, the “blue lagoon” is the dock where everyone passes by and docks, as the kitchen is right at the entrance to the house.
